PTFS Meets With Thought Leaders at CIL

North Bethesda, MD, May 21, 2015 – At the 2015 Computers in Libraries (CIL) conference, LibLime, a Division of PTFS met with 25 of the library world’s thought leaders to hear their opinions on how vendors can better serve the library profession. The discussion was robust; exciting customer focused ideas were exchanged.

Patrick Jones, Executive Director of LibLime, said “PTFS wanted to spend quality time with leaders in the library profession, to hear their observations about current technology options available to them. “ PTFS set up this lunch meeting as the firm was interested in asking these librarians to think beyond what is available now and consider ‘what could be available’ in a Library Services Platform (LSP).

“With the current pace of technological change, it is as imperative as ever that that those of us who provide software and service solutions to librarians keep our ears open to their emerging requirements carefully, in order to provide relevant solutions to the marketplace”, said Jones. “Towards that end, our discussion at CIL was very beneficial for us.”

PTFS continues to work with several large government libraries, to support and deploy our LSP. Several PTFS government clients have development requirements in their contracts; interestingly many of those requirements dovetail neatly with observations and suggestions from the library leaders who joined PTFS at CIL.

David Stern, CIL Speaker and Library Director at St. Xavier University enjoyed the working lunch. “I found the lunch to be very informative,” Stern reflected. “The topics covered the developments in metadata, semantic, and geospatial linked data possibilities. Patrick Jones created a great balance of technical detail and potential public services impacts. I was stimulated and will certainly be using some of these ideas as I explore new services. “

“In all, the meeting was interesting informative and greatly help us understand the next generation of challenges that today’s librarians need solved. At PTFS, we are working daily to embrace and solve these challenges” said John Yokley, PTFS CEO. “We look forward to a continuing dialogue with librarians from all facets of the profession to help guide us as we continue to add functionality to our next generation software solutions.”
