Portage County Public Library Joins the South Central Library System Bibliovation Union Catalog

North Bethesda, MD, January 15, 2014- The Portage County Public Library (Portage), comprised of 4 branches in Portage Country, Wisconsin, will soon participate in the South Central Library System (SCLS) Bibliovation union catalog for all collection and patron management services.

The Portage library staff will work with the SCLS ILS Support Team members and LibLime Project Management to migrate bibliographic, item, and patron data from their legacy ILS system. Portage staff will enjoy autonomy within the Bibliovation union catalog, as Bibliovation includes support for local ownership of patron records, local ownership of items records linked to communal bibliographic records, and OPAC group searching for pre-designated collections. Portage library patrons will also benefit from other functionality in the software sponsored by SCLS. With the addition of Portage, there will be over 3.5 million records in the SCLS Bibliovation union catalog.
