The next Koha Camp is scheduled to be offered as a pre-conference at Code4Lib in Portland Oregon on Monday, February 25. It will be held in Hauser, the conference center off the first floor lobby of Embassy Suites--located in downtown Portland.

Koha Camp is a unique first opportunity for systems librarians, library software developers and designers to come together for an open source experience with Koha Library Integrated System.

Here's the agenda:

Morning Session

Introduction to Koha (9:30am - 10:30am) - Joshua Ferraro

  • Brief history of the Koha project
  • Quick demo of sample OPACs, Staff client
  • How contributions get included in the releases
  • KUDOS (Koha Users and Developers of Open Source) User's Group
  • Koha Software Foundation
  • Koha Architecture Overview
  • API Support
  • Koha Demos (OPAC and Staff Client)

Git Koha - Distributed Version Control (10:45am - 12:00pm) - Galen Charlton

  • 20-minute introduction to Git -- distributed version control system
  • Install Koha in developer sandbox mode (dev target)
  • Contribution howto: Make a change, test it, format a patch, submit it

Lunch (12:00pm - 1:00pm)

Afternoon Session


Hack on 3.0 Beta (1:00pm - 4:00pm) - Galen Charlton et al

  • Fixing real live bugs
Prior to Koha Camp, some small (i.e., fixable by changing just one or two lines of code) bugs will be identified and reported in the Koha bugs database. Participants will have an opportunity to work on these bugs and submit patches.

Koha Camp Wrapup (4:00pm - 4:30pm)
